When I was reading my 2021 spread for myself, I suddenly thought of Tarot cards of the year and went to calculate them for myself.
Personal Card of the Year
You will be able to find these instructions elsewhere on the Internet, but for convenience, here they are.
17 (Day) + 11 (Month) + 2021 (This year) = 2049
2 + 0 + 4 + 9 = 15
So my Tarot card of the year for 2021 is XV Devil.
I calculated my card of the year for 2019 and 2020 as well.
17 (Day) + 11 (Month) + 2020 = 2048
2 + 0 + 4 + 8 = 14, my 2020 card of the year is XIV Temperance
17 (Day) + 11 (Month) + 2019 = 2047
2 + 0 + 4 + 7 = 13, my 2019 card of the year is XIII Death
As I was recounting events in the past year, I realised that the personal card of the year took effect on my birthday of that year, until my next birthday, and not from 1 Jan to 31 Dec like I originally thought it would. So I hope this clears it up for all of you folks, that your personal Tarot card of the year is in effect from your birthday this year until your birthday next year. And if your birthday has not come to pass, you should refer to your card of the year for the previous year.
17 Nov 2019 to 16 Nov 2020 – XIII Death
Death is a card of letting go of something old to make way for something new, transformation and rebirth. I felt this energy the most at work.
After my birthday in 2019, I had to hand over a portion of my responsibilities at work to someone else. And then there was a fair bit of discussion on what my responsibilities should now be, and finally I was asked to work on a large scale project which was very different from my usual job scope. It was a lot of work, and I ended up not being able to work with my original team mates as often, but I enjoyed the experience I got on the project. However, it came to a point where I physically could not continue working those hours anymore and left my job a couple of weeks before my birthday in 2020.
17 Nov 2020 to date – XIV Temperance
Ever since I left my job, I have been focussing on achieving balance to bring my mind and body to where I want them to be. I am living the energies of the Temperance card of balance, everything in moderation, to be patient and go with the flow. A reminder that at end of 2020, I had not reviewed my Tarot cards of the year yet, but I was naturally exhibiting these energies in my lifestyle.
Now that I know better, I’ve been consciously going with the flow. Letting go of situations when they didn’t happen the way they were originally planned for. For example, I was scheduled to give a talk tomorrow at a client’s office, but it’s now rescheduled to the week after. Took it in my stride and I will be using the opened up schedule to help a friend with a timeline plan. My car battery went kaput earlier in the week, I just made sure I allocated ample time to order a Grab to travel to my appointment. And so on. I am looking forward to be the ultimate alchemist, and live a balanced and healthier lifestyle until my birthday in Nov.
